The town is centrally-located among and minutes away from several lakes and attractions, including Crystal Lake, Good Spirit Lake, Madge Lake, the National Doukhobour Heritage Village and Forts Pelly and Livingstone.
Boasting a population of more than 2,000 persons, Canora offers an economical cost of living. The average cost of a dwelling in town is $55,109.
The Canora Economic Development Commission and Good Spirit Regional Economic Development Authority are the local community development and economic organizations that serve Canora and district.
The commission is a volunteer group that consists of local residents, elected officials and business people working towards a positive future for the town and its neighbors. The organization undertakes projects to enhance the viability of the community and encourages, supports and assists in the development of positive community, business and tourism initiatives.
The commission also administers two small business loans associations, offering small business loans of up to $15,000 to assist businesses with start up, expansion or improvement costs. The interest rate on the loans is currently four per cent and applications are available at the town office.
