Landfill

Canora's landfill is monitored by a contractor and users are required to pay a fee and sort their refuse before depositing it into the site.

The landfill is open Tuesday to Saturday and closed on statutory holidays.

Summer hours are 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Winter hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Landfill gate fees:

Automobile $2
Half-ton truck or utility trailer $5
One-ton or tandem truck $15
Trucks and semi-trailers between one-ton and semi $25
Semi trailer $50

Items that can be composted, including grass and tree clippings, can be deposited in the landfill at no charge.

Recycling

Paper and cardboard: Canora residents can deposit recyclable paper and cardboard items into any one of 22 large BLUE recycle bins located throughout the community.

Items that may be placed in the BLUE bins include: newspapers, flyers, junk mail, corrugated cardboard, shoe and cereal boxes, computer and photocopy paper, letterheads, stationery, phone books, file folders, magazines, glossy coated paper, window envelopes and hard and soft cover books.

Items that should not be placed in the BLUE bins include: styrofoam, carbon paper, paper plates, waxed paper, wax-coated cardboard, string, ribbon, wire, foil wrap, glass, plastic containers, tin cans and plastic shopping bags.

Tin and plastic: All household tin and household plastic items can be placed into the large WHITE recycle bin located on the Norway service road.

Please DO NOT place household garbage, tree branches or grass clippings in any of the recycle bins.

Garbage pick up

The Town of Canora serves its residential properties with weekly pick up of their household garbage. Commercial properties have garbage picked up three times a week. Pickup schedule and rate information are available at the town office.
